Hyder showcases multi-national expertise and sustainability toolkit at "Infrastructure Solutions for Tomorrow" in Hong Kong

Hyder Consulting was gold sponsor at the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Civil Division “Infrastructure Solutions for Tomorrow Conference” which took place this week.

The conference is a key event in the Hong Kong calendar, bringing together leading experts from a wide range of disciplines to discuss infrastructure solutions and challenges in particular as related to climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation in the 21st century.

Hyder played a prominent role at the event and reflecting our multi-national pedigree and expertise, Stephanie Wray, Managing Director of Hyder’s UK Environment business gave a keynot epresentationon "Sustainable Infrastructure - The Forgotten Dimensions".

In this paper she highlighted that environmental and social aspects, are often difficult to quantify and are frequently overlooked in major projects. Stephanie outlined the benefits of the Hyder Heartbeat, an innovative sustainability toolkit that overcomes this issue to achieve a more holistic approach to sustainability, with particular reference to the management of biodiversity and ecosystem services in major infrastructure projects.

In addition, John Berry, Director - Civil Structures Hyder East Asia and Eric Lau, Director - Building & Infrastructure Technology Hyder East Asia, each chaired a conference stream on “Sharing success stories”. The streams each featured three presentations on topics ranging from design of a green school in Sichuan,  sustainable water crossing design and introducing air purification system into road tunnels.
