Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is fundamental to our business. By taking responsibility for the effect our work has on our clients, people, suppliers and partners, investors and communities as well as the environment, we seek to improve the quality of life for society at large.

We are committed to upholding sustainability as a guiding principle and implementing it through all our operations and have set the following targets for 20010-11:

• We will support the following charities through both a donation of £10,000 each and our people's skills and expertise to assist with their worK Engineers for Overseas Development, Sowers Action, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Ingenieure ohne Grenzen and WaterAid.
• 4,200 hours of employee time to be given to charity work.
• To implement a more consistent approach for capturing data and benchmark our performance with an appropriate industry forum.
• To reduce our carbon footprint by 5%.
• Regional sustainabilty frameworks to be developed alongside our CR policy.UK green procurement strategy and actions to be rolled out in our other regions.
• To futher develop our environmental management system in each region.
• Hyder to undertake Corporate Responsibility Index benchmarking.
• Hyder's 2011 report to comply with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards.
• Hyder to further promote its CR intentions and activities to employees and the wider community through the use of multiple media and communications channels (particularly our intranet and website).
