Hyder reinforces its reputation for unrivalled engineering ability with the opening of the Burj Khalifa

As design consultant for the Burj Khalifa - the new name for the Burj Dubai - Hyder Consulting is delighted to celebrate the official inauguration ceremony for the world's tallest building, adding yet another historical engineering feat to our heritage.

Hyder was selected due to its structural and MEP engineering capability to meet the demands, complexity and enormity of design adoption and construction supervision for the world’s tallest building. Our role also included the Downtown Burj Dubai development infrastructure, masterplanning, design and construction supervision services, as well as the structural and MEP design of The Dubai Fountain and lake, the world’s tallest performing fountain.

Through the Burj Khalifa, Hyder has reinforced its reputation for its unrivalled engineering ability. This defining project ranks alongside some of the other major projects in our portfolio which spans more than 150 years and includes Crystal Palace, London; Tower Bridge, London; Harbour Bridge, Sydney Harbour Bridge and Emirates Towers.

There are currently five completed tallest buildings in the world, which soar above 100 storeys and Hyder is involved with the design and construction of four of the future tallest buildings in the world currently under construction.  These include; Burj Khalifa and Pentominium Tower in United Arab Emirates, and Al Quds Tower and Doha Convention Centre and Tower in Qatar.

The Burj Khalifa is an iconic, unique and innovative building for the 21st century and an amazing number of world firsts can be justly attributed to both its design and construction.  The building represents engineering application at its finest and Hyder Consulting is very proud to add this project to its heritage of world-class construction feats.  Wael Allan, Regional Managing Director of Hyder Consulting Middle East Limited commented:  “Hyder’s involvement on Burj Khalifa stems back to the early stages in 2002 where we were invited to provide ‘peer review’ services.  This iconic project not only builds upon our strong design heritage, it also recognises the innovation of our people and delivery of excellence to our clients.  The building represents engineering application at its finest and Hyder Consulting is very proud to add this project to its heritage of world class construction feats on one of the world’s most prestigious developments”.
