Integrated solution for biomass plant

Hyder Consulting is part of a team, including building and process contractor partners, commissioned by AIM listed, Helius Energy to provide a fully integrated technical solution for the development of a flagship 65MW biomass plant on the east coast of England.
 
Our multi-discipline specialists are enabling a joined up approach to design and construction of the plant which will be the biggest of its type in the UK and targets a saving of around half a million tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.
 
Helius was established to install and operate biomass fired renewable energy electricity generation plants and biofuel production plants, designed to meet the growing need for reliable power and to support the move away from fossil fuels. Additional sites are in the pipeline that will contribute to UK renewable energy targets.
 
As part of the pre-engineering works, the design team carried out combustion trials to establish emission levels, fuel mixture tests and concept plant design aimed at maximising the reliability, efficiency and cost of the plant over an initial 10-15 year period.
